What a writer can do, what a fiction writer or a poet or an essay writer can do, is re-engage people with their own humanity. Fiction and essays can create empathy for the theoretical stranger.

Lovely blogs! My husband and I bought our first house in Lakewood. Your blogs bring back memories!
great photos. I really want to see the doc about Bill Cunningham, I used to love seeing his videos in the NYTimes (until they started charging me) and he always seems so excited about fashion.

I couldn't help but smile back!
What a brilliant study of faces. I love this. LOVE it. Perfect accompanying quotes.
There is a new iPhone App which allows you to take a photograph of someone and it will then instantly analyse it and identify the person. I got it today and instantly tried it out on the GLW and it came up with some very unflattering results. Your collection of faces is much better.
I'm going to see the Bill Cunningham bio this weekend. I'm not a huge fan of the fashion biz, but Bill's spirit and celebration of ingenuity are so uplifting. He is the template of how to age with grace and joy.
Only recently found your blog and I'm enjoying it immensely.
Great captures! That's my pal, Pokey, in the second pic, and he does, indeed, radiate a special light and warmth to all who know him.
