b is for baby

Father asked us what was God's noblest work. Anna said men, but I said babies. Men are often bad, but babies never are.
Louisa May Alcott (1832-1888) author

Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living, it's a way of looking at life through the wrong end of a telescope.

Dr. Seuss (aka Theodor Seuss Geisel) (b. 2 march 1904 - 1991)
brilliant bookman (aka author)

wall wednesday continues. since I missed last week, today the mouse features two bodacious walls!

b is for baby and b is for bingo!

baby bingo is ten weeks old - bingo does have a 'real' name, but he'll always be bingo to me and maybe bingo in the bloggyhood. this week baby bingo's mama returns to work. her loss is my gain, for starting this week I will be blessed with bingo's company for three days each week.

when it comes to babies, I must agree with carl sandberg that "a baby is god's opinion that life should go on."

according to the portal, the children's song bingo, that we all know and love, goes back to the 1780s and early versions of the song were noted as adult drinking songs.

which brings us to another b!

musical revivalist and folk singer john langstaff has recorded an older version of the bingo song - unfortunately I can't snag any of john's renditions of bingo to share, at least not in their entirety - but here's a brief sample.

since I can't find a full version of bingo, today's song comes from brooklyn born birthday boy lou reed who celebrates his 69th birthday today. I don't know about you, but when I hear lou's voice I hear new york! coney island baby (1975) by lou reed (b. 2 march 1942)

not only are dr. seuss, and lou reed birthday boys today so is roy from the bloggyhood. happy birthday roy!!! may you have the best year ever!!!!

Beer, now there's a thought. But why think about it when it is rapidly approaching opening time. Thanks for planting an idea in my mind.
