c is for chicken

If you have men who will exclude any of God's creatures from the shelter of compassion and pity, you will have men who will deal likewise with their fellow men.

St. Francis of Assisi (b. 1181/1182 - d. 3 october 1226)
patron saint of animals and the environment
feast day is observed on october 4th.

the muppets covering the louis jordan 1946 classic ain't nobody here but us chickens. although jordan's version really swings I couldn't resist putting up this muppet vid - it's been way too long since the mouse conducted any muppet craziness!

As I was recently in Assisi I found this quote especially engaging. And the Muppets swing!

Those are fine looking birds. I can't think of a better choice than chicken for letter c in your alphabetic tour.

Heh, heh! Chickens always crack me up. I think they're the most comical looking birds, especially Guinea Fowl.

Love chickens. I always loved the Swedish chef on The Muppet Show when he'd make chicken soup and say,

"Now you put the chicky chick in doo de doo de doo" and the chicken would look at him, big-eyed, and cluck.

"Here chicky chicky" in his Swedish accent.
