j is for justice

The noblest worship is to make yourself as good and as just as you can.

Isocrates (436–338 BC) ancient Greek rhetorician

justice is a noble and worthy pursuit. alas, justice is not always viewed through the same lens. there is no room for hatred and vengeance in the pursuit of justice.
Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly.
Martin Luther King, Jr. (1929-1968) minister, civil-rights leader

j is also for jalapeno

one of my guilty pleasures are jalapenos stuffed with cream cheese, wrapped in bacon and secured with a toothpick and grilled to perfection.

If human dignity is our yardstick, then justice follows easily.

You reminded me of one of my favorite quotes today. Do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly. Merle said that justice follows easily when human dignity is our yardstick. That word, "easy" sticks in my throat. Did you know that the US spends more on birdfood than the homeless? My mom says that's because birds are pretty and the homeless don't fly away. May justice start at my house, teaching my children to love mercy and walk humbly...

I like Chris's response. I had no idea we spend that much on birdfood!

I believe in both of these quotes. Thanks for the reminder today.

Man, those jalapenos look unbelievable! Yum.

"Thou speaketh of Justice, yet thee can not abide by the laws set forth"( not sure if it's a quote, as I just made that one up )

chris -yikes! shocking statistic regarding birdseed spending. Your parenting motto is wonderful an deserves to be the model for all.

should anyone stuff jalapenos, try and find big peppers - so much easier to stuff!
