doctor my eyes

Poets are Damned ... but See with the Eyes of Angels.
Allen Ginsberg (b. 3 june 1926 - 1997) poet

looking into this gentleman's eyes, I thought of this old (1972) jackson browne song which I just love.....

Did you have a conversation with him? I'm very shy about asking people if I can take their pictures.

This post reminded me of an older gentleman who I use to converse with down in Venice Beach, CA. The beach was his home and he had very few belongings to call his own, but he had one of the most amazing spirits I've ever had to the joy to come across.

What an incredible portrait! The soulfulness of his face, especially his eyes, is amazing.

Great shot. I'm always a little nervous approaching human subjects. Did you ask him if you could take his photo? I kinda sneak up and pretend I'm shooting in the distance or cheat and use the zoom. Pity because portraits speak a thousand words.

note on the photo: I did ask this gentleman if I could take his picture, and I was very happy that he said okay.

I talked to him briefly, but was with a friend so didn't really have as much time to chat with him as I would like. I think he's a regular at the park across from the west side market which is a place I like to frequent in the warm weather months, so hopefully I'll have an opportunity to talk to him at greater length sometime down the road.
