summer breeze

Throw your dreams into space like a kite, and you do not know what it will bring back, a new life, a new friend, a new love, a new country.
Anais Nin (1903-1977) writer

The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind, The answer is blowin' in the wind
Bob Dylan (b.1941) singer-songwriter

We cannot direct the wind, but we can adjust the sails.
Dolly Parton (b.1946) singer, actress, literacy activist

A cloud does not know why it moves in just such a direction and at such a speed, it feels an impulsion... this is the place to go now. But the sky knows the reason and the patterns behind all clouds, and you will know, too, when you lift yourself high enough to see beyond horizons.
Richard Bach (b.1936 - ) author and aviator

Dream no small dreams for they have no power to move the hearts of men.
Goethe (1749-1832) poet, novelist, philosopher

In all our quest of greatness, like wanton boys, whose pastime is their care, we follow after bubbles, blown in the air.
John Webster (1580-1632) writer & playwright

Men are like bagpipes no sound comes from them until they're full.

Irish Proverb

Men do change, and change comes like a little wind that ruffles the curtains at dawn, and it comes like the stealthy perfume of wildflowers hidden in the grass.

how I loved the seals and croft's song summer breeze (1972) when I was in high school. I saw the duo once in concert, but for the life of me, I can't remember the venue, that's what happens when one gets old! the song has been featured in a few films including, dazed and confused, about high school life in the mid-1970s (yeah, been there, done that) and the 2009 sleeper the king of california

I also like the bubble pic, & the two Texas landscapes are lovely. Geez, Seals & Croft-- what a blast from the past!

Wow!! LOVE the bubble pic and all those shots of the sky make me feel like I'm floating.

Dolly Parton is my guru! Love the quote. Another of my favs from her is, "Find out who you are and do it on purpose."

Yeah!

I love when we can at last open the windows after the winter and let the beautiful breezes blow through the rooms. I can feel that breeze from your photo. (We both went for the hot air balloon too.)

Thanks for sharing these great images. I knew someone would do Dylan. I liked Summer Breeze too. It's a good song for the car.

Many of today's TT posts are evoking pleasant memories. As soon as I read today's title, I thought of the S&C song. Took me back to my own high school days.

Beautiful shots, but my favorite was the first one, of the kites.

It's interesting which photos resonate with which people I wonder why. I love the soft billow of the curtains in your room on Avenue C and the quote from John Steinbeck. But the rainbow shimmer from the bubbles is magic. And I love the quote Reya shared from Dolly Parton, too.

What a great exploration of the "wind" theme. Gee, I went right by both wind generators in Portsmouth yesterday (on the bus going to and coming from Providence) and didn't think to grab shots of them. Oh well... I love your farm windmill, though!

I love that Steinbeck quote and the photo it accompanies. Which came first, mouse? Do you find quotes to accompany your photos, or photos to accompany your posts? Inquiring minds...

As usual great pictures capturing the sayings.

Love the song.

Love them all, but that last one is so nice. So peaceful.

nice image of the kites flying. how I loved doing that with my children and loved it as a child myself. My father loved box kites. He would spend a great deal of his time constructing one for us then take us to the still undeveloped fields in the LA suburbs and we'd fly kites for hours.

I loved the picture of the sailboat. I used to have one, but in the desert it is impractical. You think I would have figured that out before I bought it.

Great pictures of the wind. I remember trying to blow bubbles against the wind - tough work!

Happy Theme Thursday! I know I am repeating myself but...I loved your post one more time! The quotes were inspirational and the pics wonderful!

Thanks

Seals & Crofts were wonderful! Though I'm more partial to "Hummingbird," myself. :)

Great pics as usual...and great quotes...you captured the theme perfectly.

Aww boofuls as always. I like that you reduced the bluster of wind to a summer breeze! I have a similar bubble photo and never had an excuse to post it . .I missed my chance! The farm windmills are common out here too . .

I want one of those balloons!

following the wind and reading everyone's tt posts have been fun. although I must admit I haven't taken the time to comment everywhere. still trying to get back into the swing of being home. lots of work to catch up on, as you can imagine!

meri raised a interesting question, about why is it is that certain pics resonate with various folks, good question... am sure it's some intangible thing about how a certain image connects with some deep feeling or memory... or desire! like how many of us would love to go up on a hot air balloon? I do, I do!!

to answer sandra's inquiring mind question regarding which came first the photo or the quote? overall, it's probably 75% photo 25% quote for theme thursday other posts it's probably 50-50.

hope everyone has a great weekend!

Oh simply fantastic post, mouse!! I did see the Seals Croft coming, tho'( mayhaps the title gave it away ). Great windmill shot! better than mine, of course. You never disappoint! :)

You caught the wind in so many different ways with those photos and I love the quotes.

do you wear tartans too when you go to the festival? :D

You always do the best quotes to go with pictures you have taken. I am not sure if I could ever do that. Take such beautiful pictures and then find quotes to match. It is pretty awesome that you do this.

Thank you for the video, I love that song. Great music from those years.

God bless.
