George Bernard Shaw (1856-1950) Irish literary critic, playwright and essayist
nothing to write about today (well, no time to write is more like it), but really wanted to post this pic from when tut-tut, l, and I were tootling around cleveland. right next to the rock and roll hall of fame and museum is a skateboard park. in the summer the place is packed with people; however on a cold february afternoon the place doesn't seem to get much action. but there was one hardy guy out in the cold (temperature-wise, it was well below freezing!) we spoke a bit with the guy - seems he works in a fairly high-stressed field and likes to come out to the skateboard park at lunchtime as a way to reduce the overall workplace stress, get some fresh air, and a little bit of exercise. I say right on!

Loved this post.
I always say "Getting old is a requirement, growing up is a choice". Unfortunately I don't remember who said it.
I've often been described as an "oversized kid", and I've always taken it as a compliment.
So skateboarders where coats and ties in Cleveland. We have them in droves (in grunge wear not suits) in my neighborhood, and the make walks with Bow a bit of a challenge.
musicjunkie - me too!
junk - first time I ever saw a suit skateboarding, usually grunge is the uniform of choice!
made me smile- and remember to play!
very cool. The guy looks like he must spin a few legal briefs into shape while he's doing it, too.
Great photo, your subject has a little bit of an Elvis resemblance.
It's nice to remain childlike, but not childish!
I have noticed that men I know who were part of the surf & skate crowd as youngsters are often more relaxed and playful as adults.
They certainly are the most active dads!
he's my new hero
I like the way his attire matches the background. Very David Lean...a touch of red surrounded by neutrals!
i especially like the reminder this man provides for integrating play into the workday!
megan - I think you are on to something with this observation, would be a great topic for somebody's thesis!!
willow - glad to see the colors struck you too - the play of color was what pulled me into the moment and why I had to try and capture it, thought it was great how the guy's outfit matched key items in the background - the fence around the park and the ship!
It really is a great quote, isn't it? We all need that reminder now and then.
LOL!!! I was just gonna say - look at all that red in that shot! I wonder if any of us would have noticed the fencing and the doodads on the ship if his tie hadn't been red? This would be a great experiment in studying selective perception.
Does hiking count as playing? I do a lot of that!
There should never be a reason to stop playing :-)
Fab posting...I loved the guy's spunk and his red tie.
I don't live in Texas, per your post, but was curious to know where you once lived???
Always important to play!
As the saying goes,
More will be revealed with time, Mouse!
Thanks for stopping by!
Absolutely, right on!

I always say that working and goofing around keep me feeling young. But my back still hurts, anyway.
