I am a rock

Once social change begins, it cannot be reversed. You cannot uneducate the person who has learned to read. You cannot humiliate the person who feels pride. You cannot oppress the people who are not afraid anymore. We have seen the future, and the future is ours.
Cesar Chavez (1927-1993) activist, founder national farm workers association

yesterday morning the sun came out and the call was too great; even though there was work to do I headed out to a nearby park for a winter wander. there is nothing quite as exhilarating as to be the first to walk on a snow covered trail...

however, after I hiked for a while I did encounter tracks of an animal who walked the trail before me. at the time I thought they were the tracks of a coyote, but then I checked this site out and think perhaps not. not that I've heard we have coyotes in town, but one can always dream.....

simon & garfunkel I am a rock now this is an early music video!! we've come a long way baby....

Beautiful pics! I'm so jealous!! We still haven't seen a flake of snow. Dang, man.

Just heard that U-2, Bruce Springstein and a bunch of other GREAT performers are going to do a show at the Lincoln Memorial on Sunday. I'll be working and won't be able to attend. Are you going?

I love how that first photo looks like a space alien standing in the snow. Or maybe those were space alien tracks not a coyote.

That S&G song is a favorite of mine. Change, change, change. What's that other one they did: Hazy Shade of Winter? Is that the title?

Looking forward to hearing about it all from DC!!!

Lettuce had a picture of a similar magnifier. Look for it (last summer?); she got a funny capture.

Just read Ladron's comment. That was my first thought, too: The MARTIANS HAVE LANDED!

Great song (boy, they were young - and so were we.)

You might want to submit that first photo to Skulladay. They love stuff like that.

Beautiful Snow shots. My mom just LOVED Simon and Garfunkel! She had all of their albums. I remember her singing this song and other hits they had all of the time . I remember the Hazy Shade of Winter song--Time Time Time see what's become of me-- while I looked around for my possibilities...i was so hard to please. I don't have any of their stuff now, but I am pretty sure I could remember a lot of the lyrics!

congrats on being a blog of note- great photos. i've heard that there are coyotes pretty much everywhere- they are quite resourceful. wasn't there one in a sandwich shop in chicago last summer?

Congrats on being named Blog of Note! Love your pictures. They look like where I live on the shores of Lake Michigan. There's nothing as compelling as sun on untouched snow to pull us outdoors, is there?

Hi, K! Sorry for my long absence...I'm still out here!

That's a great S&G song! I wandered in Central Park a couple of days ago, watching the snow fall, and it was fabulous. A Winter Wander can be so uplifting!

Yo dude! Snow is so great. I used to be involved in the snow business, if you know what I meanzorsz!! Badum, chaaa. Get it? The snow business? But seriously, it looks alittle too cold for me. I'm more used to being inside than I am used to being outside, which is fine if you can't leave the house because you're allergic to sunlight, hey hey.

wow the mouse was mentioned as a blogger 'blog of note' - I don't know what this means but it really seems like an honor. and I know it is an esteemed group as recently two buds from the cyberhood were selected as BoN! and their blogs ROCK!

as soon as I have a bit of time I plan on doing a lot of cyberwandering; I look forward to visiting each person who commented blog(s)! I relish the idea of more friends in the cyberhood!!

for some reason this song comes to mind ...
