cry of the wild goose

in the wake of yesterday's almost tragic bird strike that brought down a us air flight 1549 my bud parker submitted a satirical piece to the huffington post. I made a comment on parker's piece unbeknownst to me the comment magically appeared on the mouse (see below). make sure you check out parker's piece it's a hoot... or should I say a real squak.

That picture is hilarious. I'm curious as to whether this is a goose uprising or a malicious sabotage attempt. You never can know. :P Thanks for posting.

normally I wouldn't leave on a comment that has shameless commercialization. but being the curious mouse that I am I got a kick looking at the list of the so-called top 250 songs of ALL TIME....

there are some great songs on the list but I don't think my list would be ordered or identical to this one nor do I think I would choose this list's joni song as THE joni song to have included....although both sides now is a great song. happy to report that there are nine bob dylan songs but only one song by neil! come on now!!! and no woody guthrie.... well, top songs of all time.... I think not!

The Bush approach would be to brand the Canada goose as a terrorist and perhaps to imprison them all in the Caribbean and not let them migrate back to where they came from, right?

I needed a laugh-out-loud-until-I-snort moment today. Thanks for alerting us to this brilliant piece. The link got passed on to friends and family who are SO looking forward to Tuesday.

Heh, heh! You wanna see geese? Come to Newport, RI; anywhere there's a large, bare expanse there's a flock of Canada Geese on it. Although on the bus up to Providence today I did see about 20 Snow Geese on the Warren River. But for the Canadas... Have you ever heard a flock of at least a hundred all do the honking at once? Ow, my ears!

BTW, that guy's list is a little biased, isn't it? I mean, c'mon! No Nessun dorma? No Misty? And no How High the Moon? And nothing by Nusrat Fath 'Ali Khan, or Youssou N'Dour, or even Peter Gabriel. Like I said, awful biased!

marianne said...

can i just tell you that i happened to catch vh1's top 100 hard rock songs which included things like more than a feeling by boston & photograph by def leppard and something by bon jovi but no stones. i often wonder what the people who put these thinsg together are smoking (only 9 dylan songs? no bonnie raitt or willie?) which is what makes it fun- i'd have more neil too.

mouse (aka kimy) said...

right on roy and marianne!!

and where's kate bush, june tabor, loreena mckennitt, and yes marianne -- no bonnie raitt!!!

and only two marley songs....

this guy is musically myopic among other things.

and as roy mentioned what's with no youssou n'dour - I mean really....youssou's song "my hope is in you" makes me weak in the knees!!!

ah the problem with lists!

Dennis is glad that OZZIE made the list! Dennis counted eleven Bob Dylan songs .

THIS JUST IN: that tape of the goose call. Here's the translation:

Georgie Pordgie, Pudding and Pie
May You Go On Home To Cry
With Obama On The Way
All the Geese are out to PLAY!

(ends with a goose version of the raspberry, I think)

Enjoy Washington, petite souris!
