to the fairies ....

When the first baby laughed for the first time, the laugh broke into a thousand pieces and they all went skipping about, and that was the beginning of fairies. And now when every new baby is born its first laugh becomes a fairy. So there ought to be one fairy for every boy or girl.
J.M. Barrie (1860-1937) Scottish novelist and dramatist

it's been almost a month since I posted a photo of ms t on the mouse - much to ms t's disappointment. I'm sure she's not the only person who enjoys seeing her photo. as you may gather from the photo, fairies and fairy play is at the top of ms t's favorite things these days.

the last photo posted showed ms t asleep with a maurice sendak book in hand. at the time I could not remember the title. since then I remembered; for inquiring minds, the book ms. t is holding is we are all in the dumps with jack and guy, published in 1993.

frankly the book is quite brilliant, in it sendak joins and interprets two traditional english nursery rhymes and provides a visual commentary on homelessness, aids, and hunger - social problems which unfortunately are as alive and well today as they were in 1993. curious cats can view the book here.

La petite fée, mademoiselle t, is spellbinding in and of herself. But the wings are a most graceful addition, I must say.

(and even word verification is green today, in her honor)

bonjour, miss t!

Hello, Ms T; you are one sweet pea.

BTW, coincidentally L and I were discussing Maurice Sendak this a.m., and Where the Wild Things Are is her favorite.

Ms T is so beautiful, and you know something? her beauty increases with every knew photo, She will grow into a very beautiful woman. Now that Ms T does not need to worry about that, she can concentrate on becoming President of the United States someday--or whatever she wants to be.

I always say you can't go wrong with the fairies.

Ms. T is very photogenic! You should submit this picture to a photo contest.

I always enjoyed reading the Maurice Sendak books to my kids, whereas Care Bear books did nothing for me.

Very sweet girl.

Oh I love the clip. When I was young, I used to look behind bushes and flowers to find fairies and tinkerbell. :)

When I was a small child, an adult friend told me that the fairies lived in the gutters along the street and I believed! When my boys were younger I told them tales of the fairies who lived in the grottoes along the coast of the Mediterranean. I think magical creatures are important for children...and not only! :-)

she is as sweet and smart as she is pretty! lucky for me she loves having her picture taken!

tut - one can't go wrong with where the wild things are....but I think if I was forced to pick a favorite it might be mickey in the night kitchen, but then maybe it would be outside over there, or then there's ....oh shoot - I love them all!

megan - ms t always makes my day better. I'm so blessed that she comes and hangs out with me one day a week! children do have a way of reminding us of the important things in life!

since I've had a peter pan complex since the 1960 version with mary martin as peter pan, I confess that when tinkerbell came out on dvd I went out and bought a copy. I was doubly pleased to discover loreena mckennitt sings most of the songs!

oh and gary - so true!
