bless us one and all

may the spirit of the season fill each heart

bless us one and all

happy holidays

in 1992 the muppet christmas carol was released, it was the fourth feature length film which starred kermit and the rest of the charming muppet gang. although this was the first film produced after the death of muppet creator jim henson, like the spirit of christmas, jim's spirit was very much alive. the film was directed by jim's son brian. it's a wonderful film. I don't know if it airs on television, and I expect since there is a brand new muppet holiday film I expect not. however, with the miracle of youtube you can experience most of the film and of course it is available on dvd.

in case you would like to sing along here are the words to bless us one and all:
Robin: Life is full of sweet surprises, everyday's a gift
The sun comes up and I can feel it lift my sprit
It fills me up with laughter, it fills me up with song
I look into the eyes of love and know that I belong
Bless us all, who gather here
Piggy: The loving family I hold dear
Kermit: No place on Earth, compares with home
And every path will bring me back from where I roam

All: Bless us all, that as we live
We always comfort and forgive
We have so much that we can share

Robin: With those in need we see around us everywhere
Rob/Pig: Let us always love each other
Robin: Lead us toward the light
Rob/Pig: Let us hear the voice of reason
Robin: Singing in the night

Kermit: Let us run from anger
Piggy: And catch us when we fall
Robin: Teach us in our dreams and please, yes, please
All: Bless us one and all

Robin: Bless us all with playful years
With noisy games and joyous tears
All: We reach for you, and we stand tall
Kermit: And in our prayers and dreams we ask you bless us all
Robin: We reach for you, and we stand tall
And in our prayers and dreams we ask you bless us all

this is the first christmas post that actually touched me right down in my holiday spirit.

i owe you a tin of my famous oatmeal butterscotch cookies. (or oatmeal peanut butter if you prefer!) please give me one year to make good on that promise. i'm up to my neck in being tired of making cookies these days!

Hello OHIO! I am particularly cheery and loving today! MY OH MY, despite our economic woes, this country sure feels optimistic today? I tells ya, I honestly believe I feel the vibes and energy from everyone.

Did you happen to see that MUPPET XMAS special about them trying not to lose that theater to mean Ms. Bitterman? That was actually funny/cute.

I've been meaning to tell you the little "purse" you sent me for winning one of your contests was probably the best and most useful present I got all year. You are so very clever!

Merry Christmas! Hope to see you in January.

Lovely shots, and I always find something heartening about seeing a gray, snow covered city during the holidays and going to some warm interior.

I haven't seen that version of the Christmas Carol. For some reason, I was always fond of the Mr. Magoo version as a kid and thought it was profound at the time. (Verification word: culturi -- so appropriate for such a cultured blog.)

That was my favourite Muppet film. I was delighted with Michael Caine's performance, playing it straight in counterpoint to the wild insanity of the Muppets.

In fact, come to think of it, this is one of my faviourite Christmas films.

And the songs were perfect.

Love the nighttime shot with the orangey glow of streetlights.

Thanks, too, for your blessing and good wishes for the coming year.

I have a good feeling about 2009! May it be so.
