it don't come easy

Got to pay your dues if you wanna sing the blues,
And you know it don't come easy.
You don't have to shout or leap about,
You can even play them easy.

Peace, remember peace is how we make it,
Here within your reach
If you're big enough to take it.

I don't ask for much, i only want your trust,
And you know it don't come easy.
And this love of mine keeps growing all the time,
And you know it don't come easy.
selected stanzas to "it don't come easy" by ringo starr

today is ringo starr's birthday (b. 1940 in dingle, liverpool)! f and I had the good luck to see ringo perform a few years ago at a concert he and his all starr band gave at the cleveland's annual 'great american rib cook-off and music festival'! incidentally, that was the only year we attended. the music was good and ringo was great, but my f makes better bbq ribs than any of the ribs we tried!

I always thought Ringo was the cutest Beatle. I know I'm in the minority on that one, but watch "Help!" or "Hard Day's Night" and tell me I'm wrong.

Ringo is 68?!!!!

Crikey, where did all our yesterdays go?

Steve's right - Ringo was always alot of fun and had his tongue firmly in his cheek. Pretty talented too but overshadowed by the others.

To me Lennon looks like a monk waiting inside a helmet.

now...I never tried playing the keyboard with gloves on. Wonder if it would improve my performance? Hm... must get tricky in the arpeggios, no?

I got tagged and I fear I have tagged you in turn. Come here to learn the nature of your assignment, should you choose to accept it!

Dennis likes Ringo best! Dennis was going to post about Ringo, but has had a very tired week with you know who.

We all swooned over Ringo. I will never grow tired of the Beatles' music! They could turn ordinary occurrences into something to sing about seemingly with no effort.

Ringo was the only one I had a crush on until I realized how smart John was.

Weird - I just did Google images to see some pix of Ringo as a young man and suddenly realized my children's dad looked just like him. Strange that I never consciously noticed that before this. I guess I got over my crush on Ringo pretty thoroughly (though almost 30 years later I still have a crush on my kids' dad...)

dd - I agree I always thought ringo was fun personified... ah but 68 is the new 34!

rlb - um gloves, maybe it would help me on the keyboards...

ernie - oh my, thank you for the honor.

dennis - you are doing such a good job with you know who! ringo understands!

barbara - me too! I like the way you said "They could turn ordinary occurrences into something to sing about"

cbb - nice to have crushes that last for a looooong time! hope it is mutual! I see you have a new avatar!

I see you are doing a birthday theme thingie. Linda Ronstadt's birthday is July 15th. Might be a good time to work in one of her songs (to respond to your last comment on my last comment).

Ringo! He's aged so gracefully! He looks so good!

At the last Paul McCartney tour back in 2005, I secretly wished and hoped Ringo would come out as a surprise on stage. Can u imagine the roar of the audience had something like that actually happened?!

I saw that tour in Seattle. I still remember his intro to Yellow Submarine: "If you don't know this one, you're at the wrong show!"
