dear mr. president

Dear Mr. President
Come take a walk with me
Let's pretend we're just two people and you're not better than me
I'd like to ask you some questions if we can speak honestly

What do you feel when you see all the homeless on the street?
Who do you pray for at night before you go to sleep?
What do you feel when you look in the mirror? Are you proud?

How do you sleep while the rest of us cry?
How do you dream when a mother has no chance to say goodbye?
How do you walk with your head held high?
Can you even look me in the eye? And tell me why?

Dear Mr. President, were you a lonely boy?
Are you a lonely boy?

How can you say, no child is left behind?
We're not dumb and we're not blind
They're all sitting in your cells, while you pave the road to hell

What kind of father would take his own daughter's rights away?
And what kind of father might hate his own daughter if she were gay?
I can only imagine what the first lady has to say
You've come a long way from whiskey and cocaine

How do you sleep while the rest of us cry?
How do you dream when a mother has no chance to say goodbye?
How do you walk with your head held high?
Can you even look me in the eye?

Let me tell you ‘bout hard work
Minimum wage with a baby on the way
Let me tell you ‘bout hard work
Rebuilding your house after the bombs took them away

Let me tell you bout hard work
Building a bed out of a cardboard box
Let me tell you bout hard work, hard work, hard work
You don't know nothing ‘bout hard work, hard work, hard work

How do you sleep at night?
How do you walk with your head held high?
Dear Mr. President, you'd never take a walk with me, would you?

wow, that song/singer is powerful -
i was just reading the plain dealer article about the cleveland mother donna zovko whose son jerry was killed in a grisley way in iraq - a blackwater employee, under armed, under supplied - a sitting duck so to speak, dead at 37yrs. my feelings about blackwater aside, i feel some of the pain this and the other moms feel - the futility of the violence and now the futility of the mothers pleas for reckoning. dear mr. president...

That girl's button is as hilarious as the song is powerful and somber.

Sad but true. We once collected a volume of the
unintelligible sayings of Georgie Dubya. It was too sad to read through them all - and this is our non-elected Leader. Very scary. The history books will say he was good though like Nixon and Reagan. another couple of brainiacs. (Nixon used Kissinger's brain, but who's brain did Reagan use to 'get by' ?)
Will our history books also say Dubya won the Presidency fair and square? Non fiction indeed.

The Trustees.

ched, according to Spitting Image (did you ever see it) Reagan's brain went missing.... they did a long running thing about it...

that is a great song

I think the lyrics were great up until the
....don't know nothing ....
That annoys me to no end but fair play to Pink for daring to sing a song about the complete let down of a president of a country that has so much power and say about everyone else...
If McCain wins, it will be disaster.
But to be perfectly honest, no matter who wins, politicians will always be politicians and nothing more or better...
The world is still doomed as long as there are powers willing to invade countries, exploit the hell out of them.
Also I think this whole race about "nomination" pre-election circus is disgraceful, embarrassing. It embarrasses me to watch it on the news. Yuck.
Cheers Kim, sorry it's been a while since I put a comment under your posts.

gfs- I've been reading the series too - it is both enraging and heartbreaking. recommend it. wonder if the pd will receive an award for it....

reya - I'll be returning this year to register voters and do what I can to make sure that we get the change we NEED.

I'm just praying the dems not blow it and somehow the culture of lies which is the foundation of the last 8 yrs is revealed and accepted and 'the people' realize a vote for mcsame would be more of the same!

bob - expect pink loves bob.

steve - hilarious and right on - in multiple ways!

c.u.- guess it depends on who is writing the history books, eh?

ched - I'm quite fond of both the singer and the color. long gone are the days when regarding the color I thought 'pink stinks'....I find myself wearing an inordinate about of pink! crazy!!

gaye - good to see your name again. your life most certainly has been crazy busy. now everyday one moves halfway around the world, well least not for me!

lee - had posted a couple comments on postcard (blog formerly known as river) the other day, but seems as if I sent them along during the day blogger was going off and on... can't remember my pithy reply...but like the newly revisioned blog...

pod - you're back! hope you had a great grand tour. will pop over to pod's place and see what the word is (or image)

let - great! knock, knock....
