an arctic weather front came into town this weekend - best thing to do was to stick close to home and hang out with the critters.
the worst is supposed to be over; it's gonna be pretty darn cold for the rest of the week with today being the coldest. most of the schools are closed today including nursery schools so ms t's here to hang out with me and the critters - no strolling in the hood today! time to get out the crayons and work on our a, b, c's!
This Day in History
Nelson Mandela Is Free (1990)
As a young man, Mandela was an active opponent of South Africa's apartheid regime. Initially committed to non-violent struggle, he became the leader of the armed wing of the African National Congress after the 1960 Sharpeville Massacre, when police opened fire on several thousand protesters. He was sentenced to life in prison in 1964, but international pressure led to his release in 1990. Mandela won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1993 and was elected his country's first black president in what year? click to learn more

Can all of those wonderful animals be yours? You could never be lonely! And who is Ms. T? (I'm still learning about my new Blog friends...) I'm most impressed that you figured out how to insert a slide show!
Dear Kimy,
Your post yesterday really inspired me today.
Please leave a comment so anyone visiting my blog can click over to yours, as I did not have time to link to your blog--have to rush off now, will add your blog to my link list later this week. If I don't visit before then, Happy Valentine's Day Kimy!
Bob
PS
have a hot chocolate today, I'll have one too.
I love that slideshow gizmo. Never seen that before!
Re. the cold, I nearly died walking to work this morning. (Well, not really, but it felt like it!)
The animal slideshow is way cute. Not to rub it in, but it has been gorgeously sunny and warm here in Southern California as of late.
I'm working on putting up my mom's stew recipe soon! I promise!
Well I am happy to say that it has warmed up here, close to zero but I had to shovel about 4 inches of snow...this is much more civilized weather to be sure. Too bad you got the blast we had last week.
I laughed at the photo of the cat sitting on the mouse house! Was the mouse running in the wheel to get away?
stay warm
Dennis wonders how you moved to Cleveland and why you are sending us your snow weather tonight???!!!
Wow! Your dogs look so much like Jake. they look a little sad to be stuck indoors, but considering how short their fur is, inside is the best possible place!
b - the cats and mouse live here at my house on ave. c the brown dog is daughter e's dog dixie; white and brown dog is elivis 'adopted' son's dog. ms t is my friend's daughter who spends a couple days hanging out at my house during the week. with lack of extended family around sometimes one creates fictive kin when one lives - which is the case here.
bob - xxxx I did leave a comment! thanks again. whoops forgot to have some hot chocolate. will coconut cream ice cream do? did treat myself with that last night
steve - making slideshows are fun - if interested just go to slide.com - it's easy!!
wat - yeah!!!
ca - notch the mouse likes to keep up his figure! cause like this mouse he does like to eat!
dennis - how?? okay, last move. we got a truck, loaded all our stuff in it and drove west for 500 miles + or - some. ane viola! sorry about the snow. weather happens. but kimy likes dennis!
reya - the pups, have very, very short hair - but with a fido fleece they should be warmer
Ooh, I know the answer, I know the answer! 1994!
I was visiting back home the day Mandela was released. We joined thousands and thousands of others lining the streets to watch his arrival into the centre of Cape Town - it was awesome - and most of our friends (white) thought we were totally insane to brave the masses. Wouldna' missed it for the world - it was a moment of history in the making!
As WAT confirms, California -- even NORTHERN California -- is gorgeous right now. I heard all about the storm from my Cleveland coworkers. (By the way they'll be speaking at the Cleveland International Film Festival on March 8.) In tribute to Cleveland I'm listening to Randy Newman's "Burn On", my favorite tune ever written about the Cuyahoga River and your fair city.
OOH! All those creatures! :)
