faithful light

Oh, I'm bein' followed by a moonshadow, moonshadow, moonshadow
Leapin and hoppin' on a moonshadow, moonshadow, moonshadow

And if I ever lose my hands, lose my plough, lose my land,
Oh if I ever lose my hands, Oh if.... I won't have to work no more.
And if I ever lose my eyes, if my colours all run dry,
Yes if I ever lose my eyes, Oh if.... I won't have to cry no more.

And if I ever lose my legs, I won't moan, and I won't beg,
Yes if I ever lose my legs, Oh if.... I won't have to walk no more.
And if I ever lose my mouth, all my teeth, north and south,
Yes if I ever lose my mouth, Oh if.... I won't have to talk...

Did it take long to find me? I asked the faithful light.
Did it take long to find me? And are you gonna stay the night?

Yusuf Islam (aka Steven Demetre Georgiou aka Cat Stevens)

last night or should I say this morning at around 3 am the bright light of the moon woke me up as it came streaming through the bedroom window. this is the second night in a row that the moon tricked me into believing it was time to get up. unlike the night before when I just shuffled to the bathroom and returned right to bed, this morning I went out to the back porch to bath in the light of the moon. the moon was gorgeous and its shadow strong and dramatic. yusuf islam's (the artist formerly known as cat stevens) classic pop song began to rattle about in my head and soon rosie the cat and I were dancing in the light of sister moon. after a bit I went into the house, grabbed my camera and came back outside interested in seeing if I could take a picture of a moonshadow. unfortunately, I wasn't interested in rummaging about the house looking for my tripod. perhaps tonight before I go to bed I'll set up the camera on its tripod, should the moon wake me again I will be prepared to capture the moon!

moon names for the full moon in august: green corn moon, harvest moon, dog's day moon, dispute moon, and my favorite woman's moon (choctaw)

Laura and I marvelled at the full moon on our evening walk last night.

I managed to get a pretty good photo of the moon last year with my rinky-dinky non-SRL digital camera. Check it out.

There is another song that has the lyric 'green corn moon' and I never knew what it meant until now. Of course, now I can't think of the song but maybe one day I will think of it. Anyway, that is one bright moon!

Yes! The full moon hung over the courtyard like a huge lantern, casting silver shadows and turning familiar into mysterious creatures of the night...
I sat at the garden table, a mug of hot milk cupped in my hands, feet freezing in an unseasonally cold air, and gazed at it for a very long time

...and the music that played in my head was Van Morrison's Moondance

That is nice light.
By the way, I see Yusuf Islam at a local cafe here in Dubai often. He lives here with his extended family - he's a really nice guy - very graceful and down to earth.
